Bishnoi's father - Mangilal Bishnoi - was a headmaster at a government school. While he wasn't opposed to the idea of Ravi playing cricket, he understandably wanted his son to focus on studies first. 
Rajasthan Cricket Association's troubles with the BCCI only added to Mangilal's doubts. "In Rajasthan, there were only trials at that point," says Pathan.
"He couldn't make the cut to the top 200 in the Under-19 trials. He had come home crying and that's when his father told us that Ravi wouldn't play anymore. 
We went to his house and asked his father for two years. He was apprehensive because children weren't even graduating to play for Rajasthan and we told him that Ravi will play for India.

After facing rejection at the U16 and U19 trials earlier, the 19-year-old was disheartened, but his love for the game and the support system around him kept him going. While Ravi Bishnoi was bowling to some of the world's best batsmen in nets of the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur in March 2018, he got a call from his father who sternly asked him to come back and write the 12th board exams. 
It was a sensitive moment for Ravi who, bolstered by the advice of his two coaches who told him 'it's now or never', chose to back his passion over his dad's instructions. 
It was the year when the spinner was noticed by the cricket fraternity and his journey took off.

With 17 wickets to his name and Man-of-the-Match performances against Japan and New Zealand in the Under-19 World Cup, his guile and googlies have made many term him as the next big thing. 
He got selected in IPL team's and than for Indian National Team and got himself proved. His parents must be so proud of him.
